Radeon 3670 and 3450 to launch on January 23rd

ImageATI will launch its Radeon 3670 and 3450 on January 23rd, and again, we are talking about a healthy quantity being available.

Both cards are 55 nanometer, DirectX 10.1 capable, and they are supposed to replace the 2600 and 2400 series that were selling quite well; that is, at least until 3850 was launched.

Both cards are DisplayPort and HDMI capable, but this depends on the board design. I am sure that we will be celebrating their launch.

Once ATI launches its dual RV670 board you can expect it to be available in sufficient volumes. This is the plan, and if ATI wanted to launch a limited number it was able to do that back in December.

The samples are in good shape and the hardware was finished back in December, but we are still waiting for the final driver.

This is a tricky product, as some games will scale really well, but some (including Crysis) are much more unfriendly to the dual card; and ATI wants to make sure that it has the best driver possible when it launches this card. The plan is to introduce them in late January.

CES 2008: X-Fi based

Creative Labs is in the process of designing a new high-end sound card based on an X-FI design, but this time it plans to launch a high-end card.

It will launch something similar to the Elite Pro edition or a Fatal1ty-based product with the high-end bundling package and the external unit ,but this time around it will finally fit into a PCIe slot.

Creative doesn’t need more than PCIe 1X as this is enough bandwidth for a sound card.
