Intrepid Alpha 3 released
Welcome to Intrepid Ibex Alpha-3, which will in time become Ubuntu 8.10.
Pre-releases of Intrepid are *not* encouraged for anyone needing a stable system or anyone who is not comfortable running into occasional, even frequent breakage. They are, however, recommended for Ubuntu developers and those who want to help in testing, reporting, and fixing bugs.
Alpha 3 is the third in a series of milestone CD images that will be released throughout the Intrepid development cycle. The Alpha images are known to be reasonably free of showstopper CD build or installer bugs, while representing a very recent snapshot of Intrepid. You can download it here:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/releases/intrepid/alpha-3/ (Ubuntu Education Edition)

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/intrepid/alpha-3/ (Xubuntu)
See http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Mirrors for a list of mirrors.
Alpha 3 includes a number of software updates that are ready for large-scale testing. Please refer to http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha3 for information on changes in Ubuntu.
This is quite an early set of images, so you should expect some bugs. For a list of known bugs (that you don't need to report if you encounter), please
see: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha3
If you're interested in following the changes as we further develop Hardy, have a look at the intrepid-changes mailing list:
http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/intrepid-changes
We also suggest that you subscribe to the ubuntu-devel-announce list if you're interested in following Ubuntu development. This is a low-traffic list (a few posts a week) carrying announcements of approved specifications, policy changes, alpha releases, and other interesting events.

Bug reports should go to the Ubuntu bug tracker:

Development Release: openSUSE 11.1 Alpha 1
DAEMON Tools Lite 4.30.1 32/64 Bits (with SPTD 1.56)
Features:
- Daemon-Tools needs a 1:1 Copy to run!
- Daemon-Tools is used to RUN GAMES, NOT TO BURN THEM! Means emulation must be active while you want to play a game, not while burning the copy (except for you want to use DAEMON Tools' "fastdump" feature on a safedisc protected CD).
- If you want to run a copy protected application from an image mounted to a STEALTH DVDROM enabling the copy protection emulation(s) is NOT necessary!
- STEALTH DVDROM is able to run nearly every protected or unprotected CD image (Safedisc, Securom, Laserlock, Lockblocks etc.) like it was the original CD! Just do an image file using one of the supported burning programs and mount it with Daemon Manager!
Daemon-Tools supports the following image files:
- cue/bin
- iso
- ccd (CloneCD)
- bwt (Blindwrite)
- mds (Media Descriptor File)
- cdi (Disjuggler)
- nrg (Nero - must have ImageDrive installed).
- pdi (Instant CD/DVD)
- b5t (BlindWrite 5)
Changes in version 4.30.1:
Bugs fixed:
- Image engine fixes;
- B6T images and mini-images mounting fixes;
- Languages updates;

doPDF 6.1 Build 269
doPDF6.1 installs itself as a virtual PDF printer driver so after a successful installation will appear in your Printers and Faxes list. To convert to PDF, you just have to print the document to doPDF, the free pdf converter. Open a document (with Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad or any other software), choose Print and select doPDF. It will ask you where to save the PDF file and when finished, the PDF file will be automatically opened in your default PDF viewer.
Main benefits for using this free PDF converter:
• It’s free - PDF converter free for both commercial and personal use.
• 64-bit support - can be installed on 64-bit operating systems.
• No GhostScript - doesn’t require 3rd party programs to do PDF files (like GhostScript). This makes the setup file to be incredibly small compared to other free PDF converters.
• Customizable resolution - you can choose any resolution from 72 to 2400 dpi.
• Predefined/custom page sizes - choose a default page size (Letter, Legal, A4, A5, A6, ...) or enter your own custom page size.
• Searchable PDFs - you can search for text within the created PDF file (and search engines will also index the text from the PDF).
• Multi-language - choose a language for the user interface from the 20 languages currently supported (credits).
• Do your part in saving the planet - instead of consuming paper to print your document, why not create a PDF file out of it and spare a couple of planet-saving trees?
• Barely uses any computer resources - compared to other free PDF converters, doPDF barely uses any memory or CPU resources when doing the actual conversion to PDF.
Changes in doPDF 6.1.267:
* Fix: Corrected a paper margin conversion bug from Word to PDF (margins where not converted exactly with the same size in certain conditions)
* Fix: Corrected a conversion bug from Word to PDF, where if an Excel table was embedded in Word it would get replaced by a black rectangle
* Fix: There was a page layout bug when printing a word document from the free TextMaker Viewer program - if the document contained a succession of portrait and landscape pages, the PDF would contain only portrait pages - the new build converts them correctly.
