Report a Webpage Problem Internet Explorer 8 Add-On
After installation of the plugin, restart IE 8 web browser. Once installed, the Report a Webpage Problem Internet Explorer Add-on appears as a toolbar button and a Report a Webpage Problem… item on the Tools menu. In order to submit a problematic website to Microsoft, click on the toolbar button or choose the menu item. The add-on ActiveX control will then take a screenshot of the web page currently being viewed, and open a new tab with a report submission form. A scaled down version of the screenshot will be visible at the bottom. User can decide whether or not to include the full-sized screenshot. Choosing No to the “Include Screenshot?” question means no screenshot will be sent. User can also select a category best representing their observed problem, and able to type a 1000 character limit comment in the text field provided.
Additional data included in the report sent to Microsoft including:
* The protocol type (http, res, file, etc.) of the URL being reported.
* The complete URL.
* A numerical value representing the Document mode.
In Windows Vista with IE running in protected mode, user must allow Microsoft Applications Error Reporting to open outside protected mode to continue submission process. The Report a Webpage Problem Internet Explorer 8 Add-On will be available for a limited time after Internet Explorer 8 RTM, and may be removed from Microsoft Download Center at any time.
Report a Webpage Problem Internet Explorer 8 Add-On can be downloaded from Microsoft Download Center, or directly using download link to setup installer: ReportWebpageProblemIEAddonSetup.exe.

As the Taiwanese version is getting released on March 20, we could expect Internet Explorer 8 (English version) being released in MIX09.
For now, the version information of IE 8 in the About screen does not reflect Release Candidate 1 in the recent Windows 7 builds 7048 and 7057
And here is how it looks in the Windows 7 build 7032

IE8 Final Looking Like a March 2009 (or Post-March 2009) Release
The giant is offering free and unlimited support for issues related to the deployment and usage of pre-released versions of IE8. Although the official help and support is currently focused on Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 (All Languages), Microsoft does emphasize that pre-released versions of the browser are in fact supported, and not just the second Beta. Up to this point in time the company has promised to support development milestones of IE8 until March 31, 2009. “Free unlimited installation and usage support is available for Internet Explorer 8 pre-released versions, but only for North America English customers. This support for Internet Explorer 8 pre-released versions is valid until March 31st, 2009. Advanced issues are not supported. Advanced issues include, but are not limited to, problems that are associated with software and hardware development, domain connectivity, server-based technologies, Web site development, and business-critical systems,” the message on the page reads, as you can very well see from the adjacent image.
The initial deadline for the IE8 pre-RTW support cut-off date was November 1, 2008. In mid-November, Microsoft pushed the date forward to December 31, 2008. Furthermore, just ahead of the start of 2009, support for IE8 pre-RTW was extended until the end of March 2009.

However, one crucial aspect has to be taken into consideration. Between March 18 – 20, 2009, Microsoft will hold its MIX09 web-centric conference in Las Vegas. Last year, at MIX08 the Redmond company introduced Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1. This year, MIX09 could be synonymous with the RTW of Internet Explorer 8. Earlier this month I contacted Microsoft in relation to its plans for IE8.
“In regard to your questions, we will release one more public update of Internet Explorer 8 in the first quarter of 2009, and then follow that up with the final release. Our timeline is driven by the quality of the product. Microsoft is deliberate in our approach to releasing new products and we feel a strong obligation to our customers to do so in a responsible manner that ensures they are getting the safest, most reliable product possible,” a Microsoft spokesperson stated for Softpedia. (Jack - thanks for the heads up on this one)
For the time being, Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) Beta 2 is available for download here.

The IE8 IEAK
Internet Explorer Administration Kit 8 Beta
IEAK8 Beta is now available publically for everyone to try. To give you some background, the IEAK allows you to deploy customized packages and manage IE settings post deployment within corporations and among Internet Content Providers (ICP) and Internet Service Providers (ISP). For instance, Acme Corp could use IEAK to create a custom IE package for their employees that has Acme favorites, search providers, home pages, Web Slices, Accelerators, and more.
We simplified creating, deploying and managing branded IE packages. We optimized the IEAK to help you build your customized IE packages more quickly and to allow you to configure and customize new features in Internet Explorer 8, like Accelerators and Web Slices.
In this post, I will be talking about how the IEAK:
- Helps customize new features in IE8
- Provides full language and platform support
- Builds IE8 packages more quickly and is more intuitive.
Customize New Features in IE8
The following new features can be now customized via the IEAK8:
Accelerators
You can easily include custom defaults for Accelerators: simply point to an XML file for the desired Accelerator, or import existing Accelerators from a local machine.
