AMD officially intros Radeon HD 4890

Right on cue, as rumored, expected and predicted, AMD has now launched its most powerful single-GPU card yet, the Radeon HD 4890. Powered by the 55nm RV790 GPU, the card brags with 1.36 TeraFLOPs of powa' and features DirectX 10.1, OpenGL 3.0 and CrossFireX support, ATI Stream technology and the v2.0 Unified Video Decoder. The new card packs 800 Stream Processors, a core clock of 850 MHz, 1GB of GDDR5 memory @ 3900 MHz, a dual-lost cooler and two 6-pin PCIe connectors.

Coming with a recommended price tag of $249, the Radeon HD 4890 is offered by board partners like Asus, Club 3D, Diamond Multimedia, Force3D, Gecube, Gigabyte, HIS, Jetway, MSI, Palit Multimedia, PowerColor, Sapphire, VisionTek and XFX.

novell Novell has announced the release of SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop and Server 11: "Novell today announced the availability of SUSE Linux Enterprise 11, the operating system designed for the next-generation data center. The platform contains major enhancements to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Desktop and delivers two new extensions - SUSE Linux Enterprise Mono Extension, the only product that enables customers to run fully supported Microsoft .NET-based applications on Linux, and SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension, a clustering product that ensures uptime for mission-critical applications while slashing the cost of ownership for high availability." Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R2.20

The ALC882 series 7.1+2 Channel High Definition Audio codecs with UAA (Universal Audio Architecture), featuring five 24-bit stereo DACs and three 20-bit stereo ADCs, are designed for high performance multimedia PC systems.
The ALC882 series incorporates proprietary converter technology to achieve over 100dB Signal-to-Noise ratio playback quality; easily meeting PC2001 requirements and also bringing PC sound quality closer to consumer electronic devices.

The ALC882 series provide 10 channels of DAC that simultaneously support 7.1 sound playback, plus 2 channels of independent stereo sound output (multiple streaming) through the Front-Out-Left and Front-Out-Right channels.
